Wings, Wheels and Keels is an air, car and boat event held at Hummel Field in Topping, VA. (Middlesex County 30 miles east of West Point, VA) The show is from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with awards at 3 p.m. We will meet at the rest area on I-64 eastbound in New Kent at 7 a.m. and depart at 7:15 a.m. to arrive at the airfield at 8:00 a.m. We want to get there early to get good parking spaces and to watch the aircraft arrive.
When we attended in 2015, they had 206 cars and 25 planes participating in the event. Last year’s event was cancelled due to an impending hurricane.
This year there will be special exhibits, arts and crafts and lots of food vendors. Besides the beautiful cars there will be a spot landing contest for the pilots and Radio Active Airshow will have a static display, flight simulator as well as doing demos of Flying Giants radio controlled aircraft
There will be 1st, 2nd and 3rd place awards in the following automotive classes: American, British, European and Exotic. Registration is $10 before September 3, 2016 and $15 after that date and at the gate. Special gifts for the first 200 to register.
